The best user feedback tools for SaaS

The best user feedback tools for SaaS

When you’re building a product, especially in SaaS, you need user feedback in order to optimize your product the right way. A couple of years back you needed to collect all the feedback from your customers on a piece of paper, on a whiteboard or even in a spreadsheet. Yikes! Too much hassle.

Luckily there are some really great user feedback tools out there nowadays. Let’s dive into the 5 best tools out there!

1. Upvoty

You can set-up your own feedback board with feature voting!

One of the cleanest and affordable feedback tools out there is Upvoty. Their plan starts at just $15 a month. Even their most expensive plan is cheaper than most alternatives. With Upvoty you are able to set up your own feedback boards, like ‘feature requests’ and ‘bug reports’ and you can build your own product roadmap to share it with your users.

You can use the public view Upvoty domain (yourcompany.upvoty.com), custom domain (feedback.yourdomain.com) or even implement some neat widgets within your application. There’s an easy user authentication integration so your users don’t have to log-in separately and will experience a seamless way to give feedback. It’s a really more advanced tool like for example Shipright.

2. UserVoice

You can create your own product roadmap within UserVoice!

One of the best-known user feedback tools out there is UserVoice. It is so much more than collecting feedback only. With UserVoice, you’ll get the complete package you need for your company. UserVoice has really cool integrations with all the best-known tools such as Jira, Gmail, Zendesk, and Salesforce. If you need a more advanced feedback tool with a focus on Net Promoter Score (NPS), UserVoice is your tool! However: it’s kinda expensive for small SaaS teams and startups.

3. Productboard

The dashboard of Productboard is amazing!

Personally, we think Productboard is one of the best SaaS companies out there. Their marketing is on point! We love their e-books, blog posts and the way they do marketing in general. When you’re looking for an advanced feedback tool, Productboard could be the tool you’re looking for. Their plans start at $49 per month/ per user. So again, a more expensive tool, but, you will get a whole lot more too! Productboard collects user feedback but it also gives you neat analytics insights about this data, plus, it’s also a project manager and customer feedback tool in one!

4. Aha!

Not the most beautiful tool, but it’s functional!

Aha! is a pretty straightforward user feedback tool with a fair price starting from $59 a month. It does what you expect from a customer feedback tool; tracking user feedback. We think the integration could be better, the style of the boards is not that modern anymore, but hey, that’s just a personal opinion of course. However, they do have a pretty advanced dashboard where you can manage all the feedback. That’s why we’ve included this tool in our list: just check it out yourself!

5. Trello

Trello boards are really easy to use!

Although you will miss out on some neat features from real user feedback tools, Trello is certainly a great tool to collect feedback and plan your product roadmap. And the best thing: It’s free! But, if you really want to get serious with user feedback, we don’t think this is the right tool, to be honest. It’s built as a project manager/task manager app and it doesn’t have the focus on what real user feedback tools do have: collecting user feedback. But, feel free to try out Trello and see if it works for you!
